These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of moving and removal services provided by Van Moving Specialists (“we”, “us”, “our”) to the customer (“you”, “your”). By booking our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you have any questions about a specific situation, please don’t hesitate to contact us by phone or email.
1. Crew and Vehicles
We can provide one man and van, two men and van, or larger crews depending on the size and nature of your move. For heavy or bulky items, we recommend at least two men and van to ensure safe handling. One man and van is generally only suitable for smaller moves with few items.
We provide a clean van equipped with blankets, straps, and trolleys to carry out your move safely and efficiently. The assistance of the client or their friends in carrying items is not recommended, as our team is trained to handle items correctly — we will not be held responsible for any damage that occurs as a result of unauthorised assistance.
2. Arrival Times
We do our best to arrive on time for every job, but please allow a window of 1–2 hours for arrival in case of traffic or unforeseen delays on the road.
3. London Charges
For moves within Central London, the Congestion Charge (Monday to Friday, 7am–6pm) and the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge, where applicable, may apply and will be added to your final cost.
4. Insurance and Damaged Items
We carry public liability insurance covering loss or damage to your belongings during transit, up to the value covered under our insurance policy. In the event of a valid claim, the customer is responsible for the excess (policy deductible) applicable to that claim.
Any damage must be reported on the same day of the move, in the presence of the driver, before the team leaves the premises. Claims reported after the driver has departed, or at a later date, will not be accepted.
We are not liable for damage to items that were pre-packed by the customer where fragile or delicate contents were not disclosed to our team in advance. We strongly recommend informing us of any fragile, valuable, or delicate items before or at the start of the move.
5. Excluded Property
The following items are excluded from our insurance coverage and will not be transported without prior written agreement: jewellery, watches, precious stones, money, deeds, securities, stamps, coins, or items of a similar kind; dangerous, hazardous, or explosive items; goods likely to cause infection or attract pests; refrigerated or frozen food and drink; animals, including pets, birds, or fish, and their cages or tanks. If such items are included in your move without our prior knowledge and written agreement, we accept no liability for any loss or damage to them.
6. Packing Services
Full packing services must be requested in advance so that our team can prepare the necessary materials before your moving date. We can also dismantle and reassemble furniture, with protective wrapping provided.
It is essential that any special requirements are communicated to us in advance — for example, specialist items such as OLED TVs require specific packaging. Our driver reserves the right to decline moving items with special handling needs that we were not informed about beforehand.
7. Parking
It is the customer’s responsibility to arrange suitable parking as close as possible to the property. Parking suspensions, where required, should be arranged with the local council in advance.
Any parking tickets incurred during the move are the customer’s responsibility and must be paid, including any tickets received by post after the move has taken place.
8. Pricing
We work on an hourly rate. A free, accurate estimate is provided upon request, though the final cost will reflect the actual time taken to complete your move, as every job presents different circumstances.
An additional charge of £5 per flight of stairs per person applies where no lift is available; our service covers up to the fourth floor without a lift. Fuel costs for the agreed route are included in our pricing.
We cover all areas of the United Kingdom. Moves outside the M25 will incur an additional charge, with an estimate provided once we have the full details of your removal.
9. Booking and Deposit
To secure your booking, we require a deposit equivalent to either one hour of service or 30% of the total estimate, depending on the type of service requested. The remaining balance is due upon completion of the move.
10. Cancellations
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice before the scheduled moving date will result in the loss of the deposit. Cancellations made 24 hours or more in advance are eligible for a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations must be made in writing (email or text message); cancellations left by voicemail will not be accepted.
11. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Continued use of our services after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
